Sports Nutrition Seminar 2026

The Dairy Council for Northern Ireland is hosting a Sports Nutrition seminar on the 5 November at W5, Odyssey, Belfast.

Professor Lewis James, Professor of Human and Exercise Nutrition at Loughborough University will look at the effects of milk on rehydration and recovery.

Matthew Hooks who is a Performance Nutritionist with Sport Ireland Institute will then talk about omega-3 and elite athletes, examining barriers, food-first strategies and implications for recovery.

This will be followed by practitioner insights from British Cycling with Lead Performance Nutritionist, Georgina Impson Davey. Georgina will be discussing British Cycling’s ‘BITES for BIKES - Plate – Pedal – Perform’ programme.

We are also delighted to be joined by Olympic gold medallist, GB track cyclist Katy Marchant in conversation with Professor Sharon Madigan. We look forward to hearing about Katy’s phenomenal career including the role that nutrition has played in her preparation, performance and recovery.

Sharon, who is Head of Performance Nutrition at Sport Ireland Institute, will also chair the seminar.

It will begin at 5:30pm, with refreshments available from 4:45pm, and finish at approximately 7:45pm.
