Annual Nutrition Lecture 2025

A Sensory Journey into Healthier Eating - How Sensory Cues are the Hidden Ingredient in Future Healthy Diets

This year’s Annual Dairy Council Nutrition Lecture with the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE) at Ulster University took place on the 13th November and was given by Professor Ciarán Forde. Professor Forde is Chair of the Sensory Science and Eating Behaviour Division of Human Nutrition and Health at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands.

Professor Forde gave an insightful presentation into sensory cues and their influential role in shaping ‘what’ and ‘why’ we eat. This was the 36th Lecture in the series. A summary of Professor Forde's presentation is available to download.

The event was opened and chaired by Professor Victor Gault, Associate Dean, Research and Innovation, Faculty of Life and Health Sciences at Ulster University and the introduction given by Professor Helene McNulty, Professor of Human Nutrition and Dietetics and Director of NICHE at Ulster.
