Key Stage 2

Food and Fitness Programme

The Food and Fitness programme has been developed by the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland to help teach primary school children about the benefits of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle.

Running since 2004, Food and Fitness is designed to help Key Stage 2 pupils learn about a balanced lifestyle – the importance of a healthy diet and of physical activity. It uses colourful props, educational games, a fun exercise session and even a Food and Fitness rap. 

It is complemented by a Teacher Resource Pack and a Leaflet for Parents

The interactive presentation is delivered to pupils by the DCNI Food and Fitness team visiting schools throughout Northern Ireland.

Book Food and Fitness

Teachers can request a visit from the Food and Fitness team for Key Stage 2 pupils in their schools.

Booking will open soon for the 2022 / 2023 academic year.

In the meantime, a video of the Food and Fitness programme is also available for schools to use.

Teacher Pack

The teacher resource pack, which accompanies the Food and Fitness programme, continues the theme of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle, and provides teachers with extension activities for children to do in the classroom.

These include:
