Ciara McStravick helps Michael Drayne, Chairman of the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland and Milk Cup Chairman, Victor Leonard to celebrate the announcement that champions Liverpool will return to play in this year’s Milk Cup tournament.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who played in the tournament with County Antrim, has confirmed that the Anfield club will contend both Junior and Premier competitions for the first time.
There’s another exciting first for the organisers with news that a team from Ecuador will be involved. Barcelona Sporting de Ecuador are expected to mount a challenge to Liverpool’s representatives in the Junior event.
Tournament chairman Victor Leonard says:
“It’s all extremely positive news. The fact that Brendan Rodgers is a fabulous supporter of the competition and knows at first
hand the benefits for young players is of course a massive plus point.
“And the welcome appearance of Barcelona Sporting further strengthens our links with South America.”

The Dairy Council’s sponsorship of the Milk Cup aims to encourage younger age groups to drink milk as part of a healthy active lifestyle, both on and off the pitch.
