Dairy Council

Milk It Seminar 2017

The Dairy Council for Northern Ireland hosted a sports nutrition seminar on the evening of Tuesday 21st November at W5, Odyssey, Belfast.

The audience of coaches, PE teachers, sports dietitians and nutritionists heard from Prof Susan Lanham–New from the University of Surrey on the influences of diet and exercise on bone health in athletes, including the potential role of milk.

Danielle Logue from University College Dublin updated the audience on the latest research on relative energy deficiency in sport.

Performance and eating disorder specialist dietitian Renee McGregor and GB marathon and ultra–distance runner Holly Rush shared their practical sports nutrition insights of the challenges of athletes with disordered eating, and the growing incidence of orthorexia particularly among young athletes. The seminar was chaired by Dr Sharon Madigan, Head of Performance Nutrition, Sport Ireland Institute.
