Milk It Athletics finals reaches new heights

The Dairy Council for Northern Ireland’s sponsorship of the annual athletics championships organised by the Ulster Secondary Schools Athletics Association got off to a triumphant start at this year’s Track and Field finals at Antrim Forum where hundreds of budding athletes took part.

The Championships are an integral part of school athletics in Ulster, and have been the launch pad for many of Northern Ireland’s athletes who have gone on to compete internationally.

Dr Mike Johnston, Chief Executive of the Dairy Council for Northern Ireland, said:

“Congratulations to all participants who took part at this year’s finals. We’re delighted to be associated with the Milk It: Athletics. We wanted to sponsor the championship as it has a natural fit with the range of activities we undertake in post primary schools throughout Northern Ireland. Our aim is to use our sponsorships to highlight the potential role of milk in sports nutrition. Given that the USSAA covers all post primary schools in Ulster, and the championships cover all post primary age groups from age 12 to 18 years, this sponsorship is an opportunity for us to associate milk with athletics.”

Dr Johnston continued,

Milk is a natural source of protein, needed for building and maintaining muscles, and can be an excellent way of hydrating following exercise.”
